Which documents are required in the visa procedure or in the application procedure for the purpose of taking up employment in Germany:

  • two application forms + annex, filled out completely in German and signed by the applicant, in accordance with § 55 of the German law on residence (AufenthG) (free of charge at the visa office or at the Aliens Authority, or on the Internet pages of the responsible authorities
  • 2 biometric passport photos (not older than six months)
  • valid passport (signed) with at least one year of validity remaining, not older than 10 years, with at least two empty pages
  • résumé
  • confirmation by the employer in Germany through submission of the employment contract, specifying its length and the figure for the monthly salary payment, and also a detailed description of the job in duplicate
  • IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) record or comparable company document in Germany in duplicate
  • proof of the professional’s occupational status in their respective country (employment contract, previous occupations, university qualifications etc.), other occupational records that verify the relevant experience
  • if a priority check is required: records of previous efforts to fill the position that may have been undertaken by the Federal Employment Agency
  • if necessary, proof of knowledge of the German language
  • if required (e.g. for doctors), permit to practice chosen profession or assurance of said permit
  • certificate of good conduct from the country of origin
