I am involved in the following tasks with management roles:
- STRIT Project: Research Project about Monitoring, Maintenance, Seismic Upgrading, Early Warning Systems of bridges and major structures of Transport Infrastructure networks. Project’s value: €14 Million. Client: Ministry of Research and Education of Italy.
Responsibilities:
o Management of a Consortium of 10 firms awarded the contract by the client.
o Procurement of services and materials.
o Program Management – technical requirements and time schedule.
o Supervision and site visits of 4 demo works.
o Management of Project Reports, Progress meetings, and Financial Documents for interim payments.
o Liaison with the Client and local authorities.
o Dissemination activities about findings and results.

- MORFEO Project: Research Project about innovative, remote, wireless surveillance and monitoring of road infrastructure.
Project value: €1 million. Client: Campania Region, Italy.
Responsibilities:
o Management of a Consortium of 4 firms awarded the contract by the client.
o Program Management – technical requirements and time schedule.
o Management of Project Reports, Progress meetings.
o Dissemination activities about findings and results.

- Safelife-X Project: Project about life extension of infrastructure. Member of the International Advisory Board.
Client: EU, Program: FP7.
Responsibilities:
Advisor of the project Coordinator about the main issues concerning ageing, maintenance, retrofitting of bridges and major structures along European Transport Networks in need of rehabilitation or major overhauling.

- IMPRESS Project: Research project about energy efficiency improvement of façade cladding for existing buildings.
Project’s value: € 5 Million. Client: EU, Program: Horizon 2020.
Responsibilities:
o Management of the Demonstration Works consisting in re-cladding and over-cladding works at 2 schools in Coventry (UK) and the in Severin (Romania). Preliminary and Detailed Des

Responsibilities:

Program management of major projects entailing construction, rehabilitation, manintenance of road sections:
- Feasibility studies, preliminary, and detailed design.
- On site and lab investigations.
- Project management at approval stages: Environmental Impact Assessment, Public Enquiry.
- Procurement of design and investigation services.
- Management of contracts regarding design, investigation, lab tests, and support services during the stage of approval and negotiations with local entities.
- Liaisons with clients and local authorities for approvals.
- Works supervision and assessment of job variations.

Projects

- A1 Motorway – Widening to 4rth lane of a dual road stretch 17 km. long in the Milan area with an AADT of more than 90.000 pcs. The widening involves expansion to 4th lane of two separate carriageways with land acquisition on both road sides;

- A14 Motorway – Widening to 4rth lane of a dual road stretch 34 km. long. The AADT of is about 80.000 pcs. The project forecasts an up-to-date ITS system for traffic management and expansion to 4th lane of two separate carriageways with land and buildings acquisition. The project alignment interferes with streams, irrigation canals, a flooding prone area, and some historical remains dating back to Ancient Roman Times. People displacement is a project issue too;

- A13 Motorway - Widening to 3rd lane of a dual road stretch. The project’s alignment interferes with an environmental sensitive area, irrigation canals, streams, a network of local roads, including more than 50 overpasses and underpasses;

- Bologna - Florence New By-pass Motorway – New link-highway between Florence and Bologna. In charge of the Validation Unit to check and validate the detailed design of the project. Main issues of the task are: tunneling in poor quality rocks, seismic design, slopes and cuts stabilization;

- Pune - Solapur motorway (India) – Upgrading works

Head of the Design Department.
-Responsible for the design at preliminary and detailed stage of works related to construction, upgrading, maintenance of road stretches.
-Chief Validation Engineer for design of road sections, retrofitting and seismic upgrading of bridges and structures, road rehabilitation and maintenance works.

Highway Engineer of the Latin American Department. Involved in transportation projects at different stages: Identification, appraisal, project preparation and supervision with regular site visit, review of project documents and reports, check of procurement services and works. What follows is the list of the tasks:

- Ecuador: Damage assessment to the transport infrastructure stock after severe floods caused by “El Nino Phenomenon”. Planning and supervision of emergency works related to disrupted roads and 26 bridges in the Guayas Region;
- Nicaragua: Reconstruction of roads and bridges severely damaged by flooding and landslides;
- Argentina: Rehabilitation and maintenance of several sections of the National Road Network. Works financed through 5 year lump-sum contracts combining rehabilitation and maintenance;
- Brazil: Road survey and data assessment; supervision of rehabilitation and maintenance works of the road networks in the states of Minas Gerais e Goias;
- Uruguay: Supervision of road rehabilitation projects along a 1,000 km long network under contracts combining rehabilitation and maintenance;
- Uruguay-Argentina: Rio de la Plata bridge. Review of feasibility;
- Colombia: El Vino – Tobiagrande – Puerto Salgar toll road. Supervision of the engineering and road operations and maintenance;
- Colombia: Upgrade of the road corridor Bogotá – Buenaventura. Review of engineering design and road operations and maintenance;
- Colombia: La Linea Tunnel BOT Project. Feasibility study, preliminary engineering, studies on impact of tunnel boring on the water table.

- Preparations of Road Maintenance and Operations plans;
- Review and approval of O&M facilities;
- Road pavement design with life cycle analysis and assessment of impact on the environment;
- Bids preparation for DBFO (Design, Build, Finance, Operate) projects to upgrade existing highways in the UK.

Project Engineer involved in maintenance and rehabilitation works of the Italian Toll Motorway Network. The network is 3.000 km long stretching in different terrains and climatic environments. In details:

- Road infrastructure monitoring and surveillance (bridges, tunnels, box culverts/minor structures, retaining walls , road pavement, geotechnical structures);
- Ranking and planning of rehabilitation works according to traffic and infrastructure conditions;
- Site investigations, Preparations of Preliminary and Detailed Design, HSE, regarding road maintenance works;
- Bidding documents preparation for works execution;
- Supervision of works, check and approval of interim payments, preparation of documents for finale acceptance.
