Engineer - Mechanical Engineering

The course is about advanced mechanical skills that are needed for specializing after a BSc degree. This is evident in the modules taken such as Project and Quality management, Advanced CAD, Acoustics and Vibration, Finite Element Analysis and more importantly International Product development, which is an application of a real product development team. The latter has really given me the experience and the feeling of being part of a product development team. My MSc project was on brake squeal optimization using Finite Element Analysis.

The 5-year course gives a scope about many Mechanical and Electrical subjects like electric circuits, electronic devices, Fluid mechanics, Advanced Materials, Data Acquisition, Automotive engineering, Internal Combustion engines, Turbomachinery, Electromechanical drives, Solid State Drives, Robotics, Automatic Controls of Electromechanical systems and hydraulic systems. My final year project was on hydrogen boosted engine to reduce fuel consumption.

The company is an engineering inspection and consultancy company. It consists of several departments including welding and lifting inspection departments. I worked with the ship and naval design department of the company. It involves ship designing both from scratch and altering the designs of already built ships. I also worked with the NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) department, where inspection of weldings using VT (Visual Testing), MT (Magnetic Particle Testing), PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing) and RT (Radiographic Testing). I am an ASNT NDT Level II qualified inspector. Now I am working with the Lifting Inspection and maintenance Department, where my duties involve inspecting and maintaining cranes, lifting equipment and lifting gears. The company is LEEA certified.

The company is one of the major offshore construction and marine services companies in Egypt. I have gained experience in mechanical design, platform components, engineering project management, maintenance and general background about offshore engineering, such as pipe laying and Platform Installation. Duties included engineering work and heavy-duty work with mechanical
machines.
