Engineer - Refrigeration Technology

Assume full responsibility and accountability for the engineering team performance and measurable results
including overhauling a range of equipment and machinery such as piston and screw compressors.
• Control and prepare the necessary parts list whilst negotiating efficient prices / quotes and achieving optimum
costings in line with company budget and expectations
• Streamline and manage procurement and supply matters and ensure credibility of parts related decision making
• Direct the process of parts and equipment replacement whilst monitoring and maintaining multiple site
operations, maintenance work, troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical and workplace health and safety
[WHS]
• Ensure all overhaul and mechanical work is carried out in accordance with relevant codes, specifications,
standards and procedures, and meets the client’s requirements
• Perform on-site supervision and resolve minor to complex problems to ensure the installation, replacement and
maintenance are all executed in accordance with previously defined parameters and plans
• Collaborate with the key project stakeholders including the site owner on a daily basis for the purpose of quality
checks, monitoring and progress measurements
• Provided advice to both senior management team and client team members regarding possible design
improvements, potential risks and resolutions to complex technical matters
• Utilised consultative leadership to mentor and develop junior and/or less experienced engineers
• Ensured high levels of safety and compliance on-site whilst also attending to emergency call-outs related to plant
faults or ammonia leaks
• Rotary equipment condition monitoring accordingly to the manufacturer’s recommendations and related
standards.

• Constructed, reconstructed and managed all aspects of ammonia refrigeration systems maintenance within a
range of industries including but not limited to food [breweries, vegetables, fruit, meat], chemical, textile, oil
• Planned, designed, verified and executed the development, assembly, installation, operation and maintenance
of industrial and commercial HVAC&R systems from concept to completion
• Utilised high-level expertise and technical knowledge to provide credible advice and leadership to engineering
teams and senior management
• Attended client meetings to assist with determination of project requirement, drafting and issuance of project
proposals, tenders, budgets, cash flows, quality assurance and project schedules
• Provided instructions and guidance to a team of technicians, technologists and engineers across various
disciplines and ensured that the tasks required for the completion of works are undertaken in accordance with
the approved safety, quality, cost schedule and industry requirements and the work scope and schedule
• Streamlined and managed all procurement and operational related aspects for heating and ventilation system
projects with an aim to achieve optimum costings whilst adhering to budget and quality standards
• Assumed accountability for high quality production of stainless steel and other types of ammonia refrigeration
equipment including but not limited to:
• Oil cooling radiators for ammonia compressors
• Oil separators for ammonia compressors
• Filters housing for ammonia compressors
• Steel constructions of all shapes and sizes [ei.tubes] needed for ammonia compressors
• Evaporator condensers / shell and tube ammonia condensers / ammonia evaporators and heat
exchangers.

• Assisted the Chief Engineer with high profile, multi-million-dollar projects including planning, design,
production, development and rebuilding of the following solutions:
• Ammonium Compressors (Screw, Piston, Reciprocating and Centrifugal)
• Liquid Ammonia Pumps / Water Pumps / Panels / Valves
• Contributed to the development of annual budget and cost management, within the context of the
maintenance and engineering operations
• Ensured appropriate staffing consistent with needs and within the constraints of the organization’s physical
and financial resources including recruitment, selection, development and succession planning
• Planned, organised, directed, coordinated the maintenance and engineering operations’ work plan including
assignment and delegation of projects and programmatic responsibilities
• Conducted reviews and evaluation of work methods and procedures and met with staff to identify and resolve
problems
• Assumed responsibility for the short and long-term planning and daily operations of the engineering
department in order to ensure the overall upkeep and maintenance of HVAC solutions
